FISHFARM solutions
Fisheries extension staff normally advise us to fertilize our fish ponds to promote production of natural fish food within the pond. However, if you exceed the the recommended amounts, there the pond will start developing problems related to over-fertilization. The problems may include deep-green water colour that makes the water look like 'soup', green or red scum on top of the water, lack of oxygen in the water, and dying fish.

Over-fertilization may also be due to feed left overs sinking to the bottom and releasing more nutrients into the water, nutrients that come in with run-off from nearby agricultural farms, OR decomposition of dying algae within the pond.
